Our History
The Gas Transmission Benchmarking Initiative (GTBI) is the European gas transmission system operators (TSOs) benchmarking and collaboration group. It was founded in 2002 by a group of 5 visionary European gas TSOs.
Juran Benchmarking was appointed as facilitators to the GTBI on 2005 and have coordinated its activities on an annual basis since.
The GTBI has since grown to encompass transmission system operators overseeing over half of the EU’s gas transmission capacity and has extended its collaboration with peers throughout the world as far as South America and Australia.
Who is it for?
The GTBI is governed by the member European gas TSOs. Membership is open only to European companies operating gas transmission systems.
Why the GTBI?
The GTBI’s was founded to achieve thee core objectives:
- Facilitate learning and sharing between TSOs
- Challenge regulatory benchmarks and targets
- Collaborate to achieve continious improvement as a group
